Irwin Mitchell community work
Having given up on the British summer the staff at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors are preparing for Autumn with a traditional clear out, and doing their bit for charity in the process, by donating old work clothes to the St Wilfred's Day Centre for vulnerable people in Sheffield.
As part of the firm's commitment to Business in the Community (BITC), the riverside offices were awash with suits on September 7th as people donated shirts, skirts, jumpers, dresses and some funky looking ties.
The St Wilfred's Day Centre helps enable vulnerable and homeless people in Sheffield to gain qualifications, new skills and the opportunity to purchase the donated work clothes at a nominal sum of around £1.00.
David Cass, Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell commented: "Clothes can have a massive impact on a person's confidence and self esteem, especially when going for job interviews, so we were especially keen to take part in this project.
"Irwin Mitchell has worked closely with BITC for several years and this project is one of many which we're delighted to be involved in."
'Cares' is Business in the Community's national campaign to engage employees in their communities through volunteering. More than 400 companies support city-based and regional Cares partnerships in 32 locations across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Michelle Tilney, Project Coordinator for BITC, commented: "On behalf of St Wilfred's Day Centre I'd like to thank all the staff at Irwin Mitchell who contributed clothes. The response was fantastic and I can assure you that the clothes will be very well used!"
