Dog attack injury
A postman delivering in Grimesthorpe, Sheffield has suffered serious injuries to his leg after he was attacked by two dogs.
One of the dogs has since been put down but the other dog, described as a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Japanese Tosa cross is yet to be found by officers.
The Police are warning people not to try to approach or handle the dog that is 18 months old, brown and white and wearing a brown collar with the name Macey written on it.
Helen Price from Irwin Mitchell Solicitors commented: "This case highlights yet again the increasing number of incidents which occur each year involving dogs who are not kept under control by their owners.
"Owners have a moral and legal responsibility to keep dogs under control when in public and they should not be allowed to roam free on their own.
"Unfortunately, on this occasion a postman has sustained serious injury whilst carrying out his job. Within the Public Liability team at Irwin Mitchell's we frequently deal with dog bite claims where people have been bit and attacked by dogs who they do or do not know.
"If a dog has a history of being aggressive then their owner should ensure that they are kept muzzled and on a lead in public places to decrease the risk of them attacking a member of the public.
"If, you are have been bit by a dog in the last three years and you wish to bring a claim against the owner then please contact us."
