RAF accident
Investigations are continuing into what caused an RAF parachutist to be seriously injured during a landing at an airshow.
The member of the RAF Falcons, named locally as Sgt Richard Cross, plunged to the ground during a display in front of hundreds of spectators on the final day of the Eastbourne airshow.
RAF parachute injury
Sgt Cross and another unnamed RAF parachutist landed badly, but only Sgt Cross needed to be taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The Ministry of Defence has launched an inquiry into the incident, but organisers say next year's airshow, which attracted more than 500,000 people, will still go ahead as planned.
The RAF Falcons are based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire as part of the No 1 Parachute Training School.
All of the parachutists are selected from the RAF's parachute jumping instructors, according to its website.
