UK-US Data Bridge to help businesses with data export

Data export is back in the news, but this time the announcement might help rather than hinder businesses exporting personal data to the US. At the moment, the export of personal data to the US is a minefield that many businesses struggle to navigate.

Yesterday the Atlantic Declaration was announced. Its strapline is "a framework for a 21st century US-UK economic partnership". Part of the framework relates to the export of personal data.

US-UK data bridge has been agreed in principle to allow data flows between the UK and US. The devil is in the detail and assessments are currently happening to allow the bridge to be implemented.

AI co-operation and collaboration on privacy enhancing technologies are also in scope.
