Team Solent Sharks wheelchair rugby club are on a mission to offer disabled sporting opportunities across the south coast.
The team welcomes players from a wide range of backgrounds, from beginners to elite athletes, and have an active junior and senior programme.
The club is a disability community club linked to Solent University in the heart of the city of Southampton. The University provides a facility for the club to run from and also the support and guidance from staff and students to include coaching and mentoring.
As a legacy programme from London 2012 the club has grown and developed ever since and requires further support and funding to continue to open the doors to new members and to help change people’s lives for the better.
As a reflection of their roots in the community, Team Solent Sharks regularly take part in community sports events with local groups including schools and disability festivals and more specifically at Salisbury Spinal Unit where they attend regularly throughout the year. They are committed to promoting disability sport and wheelchair rugby in and around Hampshire and always welcome newcomers with open arms.
Wheelchair rugby is an intense and exhilarating sport available to players of all ages. It combines elements of rugby, basketball and handball.
