Irwin Mitchell’s specialist personal injury team in Leeds has helped a woman to claim compensation after a slip on an icy path left her with serious injuries.
Our client slipped on ice on a path in the car park of the building where she worked. Black ice had formed on the path which her employers were responsible for keeping clear.
Our client suffered serious injuries including a fracture to her spine which meant she had to have surgery. She continues to suffer pain and has difficulties with her mobility.
Sion Kingston, Partner in Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office, helped this client to make a claim against her employers for the injuries she suffered as well as her lost earnings. It is thought that she will not be able to work full time hours in the future as a result of her injuries.
Sion Kingston said: “Unfortunately, my client sustained serious injuries in circumstances where the area hadn't been maintained during the snow and ice as it should have been. This incident was entirely avoidable, and I hope that other employers learn from this and ensure that every possible care is taken to avoid accidents of this type happening in future.”
