Our specialist Accidents at Work team recently worked to negotiate compensation for a man whose hand was badly injured at work.
Our client, 62 had rented a space from Hurst Mill Trading Estate Limited, in which to pursue his work. He had been suffering problems with flooding and tried to fix the issue by clearing out any blockages from the surrounding pipes. During his attempt to do so, the downpipe he was tackling suddenly came away from the wall and fell, with the whole structure collapsing onto our client’s hand.
This dramatic accident crushed his ring, middle and index fingers and it was agreed that they must be amputated immediately. Following this surgery, our client experienced a period of infection and slow recovery, leaving him with significant problems and stiffness in his hand.
Irwin Mitchell strove to get our client compensation which would help him begin to tackle these changes in his life. The company which had rented him the property was responsible to ensure that their customer, our client, was safe from any potential personal injuries on site and there was clearly negligence on their part in this case.
As a result, we were able to secure our client a payment of £30,000, which will go towards helping him recover successfully post accident.
Our serious injury solicitors could help you claim compensation if you have suffered an injury at work that resulted in the amputation of a limb. See our Amputation Claims page or Workplace Accident Claims page for more information.
