Irwin Mitchell has recently acted for a 15 year old boy who was injured during a game of football between two local schools.
Our client was playing centre midfield and dribbling the ball when one of the opposing team's players dived into him in a two footed tackle, causing serious injury to our client's left ankle. The player was immediately sent off the pitch with the referee describing the tackle an act of serious foul play.
Our client suffered a fracture to the left ankle and was an in-patient at hospital for 3 days following the incident. He had to undergo surgery to fix the fracture using metal pins and then wear a plaster cast for 6 weeks while the fracture healed.
Prior to the incident, our client was a keen and talented footballer, playing as part of the academy, set up by his local football team. Following the injury, however, he was unable to play football and was dropped from the team. He was also a keen cross country runner but is unable to manage competitive cross country running.
A claim was made against the player that tackled him who offered to pay our client £7000 in settlement of his claim. This money has been invested until our client is 18 years old, when he will be able to access the funds.
If you've suffered a football injury due to a reckless tackle or poorly kept facilities, our sports injury claims specialists could help you claim compensation. See our Football Injury Claims page for more information.
