Irwin Mitchell assisted a man to obtain compensation after he was injured at work as a result of careless maintenance work.
Our client was in the process of carrying out shrink wrapping by hand at work in an industrial unit, when he stepped backwards and tripped over raw bolts protruding from a walkway. The bolts had previously been cut off but left protruding by about 10mm, causing a health and safety issue in the workplace.
As a result of the fall, our client suffered a fracture to the radial bone in his wrist and his arm was put into plaster for three weeks.
He also snapped a tendon in his thumb which required surgery to repair and was off work for three weeks to recover.
Irwin Mitchell settled the claim in August 2011 and obtained £8,000 for the client in compensation for the injuries he received.
