A Wolverhampton family are seeking compensation after a truck driver died in a fatal work accident.
Adrian Turner died when he was crushed by a metal bale. The truck driver was delivering scrap to a scrap yard when a one and a half ton metal bale fell around 20 feet on top of him.
The owners of the scrap yard, Sims Group UK Ltd, pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety regulations and were fined £200,000.
Toni Long of Irwin Mitchell is representing Mr Turner's family in a compensation claim. She said: "This accident simply should not have happened. Had a proper system for the stacking and storage of scrap metal been in operation, the scrap would never have been unstable and would not have fallen."
