Our employment tribunal training will help your business avoid expensive and time-consuming employment tribunals and prepare you for defending a claim if necessary.

Our specialist employment law solicitors will show you exactly how an employment tribunal works. We’ll help you understand what steps you need to take before legally dismissing an employee and how your decisions will be looked at by a judge.

You’ll learn what you need to do when appearing in tribunal and what it’s like to be a witness and give evidence. Our training is the closest you’ll come to appearing in a real tribunal so you’ll get all the preparation you need in as much detail as possible.

Our employment team is recognised by Chambers & Partners as a leading law firm year on year. We’re quoted as being "a good team of dedicated professionals" who offer impressive “strategic, tactical and commercial advice.”

Find out more about what training we can offer you or your colleagues by contacting our employment services manager, Rachel Hetherington on 0121 203 5355 or online.

What Does The Training Involve?

You’ll watch our employment solicitors performing a mock employment tribunal based on a typical case:

  1. We explain the procedure and the legal tests that a case must meet
  2. You’ll get a copy of the evidence and watch us cross-examine the witnesses
  3. The Judge will retire and we’ll ask you to vote on who should win
  4. The Judge will then deliver and explain their verdict
  5. You can ask the judge and lawyers questions about the process, legal issues, and the decision reached.

It’s an engaging and interactive session that will prepare you for defending an employment claim.

Case Study - Tribunal Training for HR Advisors Working at an International Company

Our employment team advise the Capita Group plc that employs up to 80,000 people. Such a large number of people mean the Group receives a number of Employment tribunals every year, a few of which they handle in-house.

Our solicitors train HR advisors who conduct these tribunals. We guide them through handing and defending a claim, from receiving the claim form through to the actual hearing.

We take them through each stage, providing details on disclosure exercises, drafting witness statements, and cross-examination tactics.

Over time, we’ve evolved the training and now include a second stage to the course focusing on the final hearing of a tribunal. We make sure that the person presenting the defence knows exactly how to conduct a cross examination. This individual training gives the Group the best chance at a successful defence.

The training we provide to Capita Group plc is intensive and thorough. It gives their HR advisors the expert skills they need to conduct successful tribunals.

We give them real life scenarios to practice with and train them for every eventuality they could face which gives them the confidence to face these issues head on” – Glenn Hayes, partner
