Biography
I head the South Coast Private Client team based in our Chichester office, which advises clients on Wealth & Estate Planning, Probate, Elderly & Vulnerable issues and includes our Tax Compliance and Trust Administration teams. My own area of specialism is tax compliance, where I help high net worth clients meet their reporting requirements and pay only the tax they need to HMRC.
My clients are individuals rather than companies and include a number of high profile sports personalities.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
It was by default. My background is in numbers so I joined for the tax side rather than for the law. I quickly realised that there are many advantages for clients in having their accountancy work done within a law firm as matters are considered and addressed from both an accounting and legal perspective. It is very unusual to have such a combined offering within a law firm.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
Building long term relationships with our clients and referrers and being confident that the services we offer can meet their often complex needs, both immediately and for many years to come.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
The quality of our clients ensures the work is always varied and interesting. Tax legislation is complex and can change significantly each year which is always a challenge – but it is reassuring to have a team of expert tax lawyers on hand to help with technical issues.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I enjoy most sport and during the summer months spend as much time as possible watching Sussex County Cricket Club. However, being a born and bred Geordie, my main passion is Newcastle United Football Club. Unfortunately that tends to give me more pain than pleasure but does give an excuse to indulge in my other favourite pastime of drinking a good bottle of red wine.
