Our associated firm, Irwin Mitchell Scotland LLP, was established on 26 April 2011. I work as a solicitor in Irwin Mitchell Scotland LLP, specialising in pursuer road traffic cases. My role is that I take over cases that have reached a certain point in litigation - usually when a proof is approaching - without being settled. I will then attempt to settle the cases and also prepare matters for proof, through review of the case, citing witness, lodging of relevant further productions, etc.
In addition to this role, I provide technical assistance to other members of the court team in relation to such matters as drafting of pleadings and court procedure. I also organise a training programme for the department, where in-house and outside speakers will present seminars on topics of relevance to the work of the department.

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
Unlike most lawyers it wasn't Twelve Angry Men. In my case it was The Verdict (the Paul Newman film).
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
Settling an important case or getting a court judgment back in a client's favour are the best aspects of the job.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
The opportunity to work in largely personal injury work. I also enjoy working in a big office with a buzz around the place.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
Spend quality time with my family, friends and DVD box set collection.
