I am an Associate in the Leasehold Enfranchisement and Residential Management Team based in the Chichester office. I specialise in non-contentious residential landlord and tenant issues, with extensive expertise in flat and house lease extensions, individual and collective enfranchisements, Right to Manage claims, freehold reversion sales and purchases and rights of first refusal under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987. I also advise in relation to all types of residential tenancy agreements and licences, property management and Residents Associations.
My clients include landlords, tenants, residents management companies, property development companies, Receivers, Local Authorities, management companies and agents.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I was inspired to take up law by the changing and diverse areas available. My career is interesting and varied in property work, having achieved over 25 years of housing development experience before specialising in residential leasehold law, which is a lifelong learning opportunity.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
I like to get a good result for my clients – so to achieve their goal is most rewarding. I find great satisfaction in using my skills to provide practical and commercial solutions for clients, whether preparing a single tenancy agreement or dealing with a large apartment block enfranchisement, especially where there are competing and complex issues.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I love walking with our Irish Terrier and getting out and about in our campervan - France is a favourite destination.
"This was a very complicated matter of a lease renewal with National Trust which eventually took well over four years to complete. Throughout all of this period Marcelle Turner gave clear, wise and timely counsel with great patience and some great humour. I will most certainly recommend her to anyone in need of her particular skills" - 5* Trustpilot review

"This lease extension was complicated but Marcelle Turner and Katherine Ditch were so helpful and thorough ensuring everything was done correctly as the original lease wasn’t quite adequate. I would recommend Irwin Mitchell."- 5* Trustpilot review
"Marcelle is an expert in the field of leasehold property law. She recently advised on a non-standard matter relating to a lease amendment for me. I was extremely pleased with the service I received: she turned around the changes very quickly and was able to explain what was required in clear simple terms at each stage of the process. It was a breath of fresh air as I have traditionally found this area of law a minefield. I would highly recommend Marcelle's services for anything relating to leasehold property."" - Michael Wood, Business Analyst at UBS
"Marcelle is a great lawyer who really cares about her clients. As well as her legal skills, she’s also a great colleague and is always willing to get involved in other initiatives. I always look forward to working with Marcelle" - Ann Hemming, Implementation Consultant at LexisNexis UK
