I have practised in Family Law since September 2007 and qualified as a Family Law solicitor in January 2010.
I'm an Associate Solicitor and specialise in all aspects of divorce, private law and children and financial remedy proceedings that include international elements. I deal with complex child care arrangements and high net worth financial matters that happen from separation and a breakdown in marriage and civil partnerships. My work also deals with assets such as pensions, a business and property portfolios.
I'm a qualified member of the Family Law Panel, recognising that I have and maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practise in all areas of family law (save for public law child care proceedings).
I'm also a member of Resolution, which recognises that I follow a certain Code of Practice that ensures I promote a constructive approach when dealing with family issues. I'm quoted in the Legal 500 directory in September 2019 as “not afraid to state her case in a skilful manner”. I've appeared on BBC Radio Manchester giving an experts opinion on case law regarding divorce issues and have written numerous blogs relating to family law.
On a personal level, I pride myself on my excellent client care skills and the rapport I build with my clients. From the initial meeting, I ensure that I'm approachable and committed to developing a trusting relationship. This helps us to achieve optimum results, which are in my client’s best interests. Whilst I show compassion and empathy towards my clients, I always ensure that I give realistic advice from the beginning and throughout the case as it progresses. This is to help client’s make an informed decision regarding their case and future.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I'm a good listener and from a young age I was extremely empathic. I was the agony aunt in school, the person people came to with their problems. I've always had a desire to help those in need. Anyone who has ever had a problem, I've always wanted to come up with a solution and help them work through it. This is why from an early age, I wanted to be a lawyer and family law in particular always suited my character.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
When clients give you positive and encouraging feedback. It makes all the hard work and effort worthwhile and knowing that they're in a much better place in the end after having guided them through one of the most difficult times of their lives.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
The flexible working culture is ideal as it means I am highly accessible to my clients. I enjoy working in a large supportive team and have access to other areas of law that will assist my clients so everything is under one roof.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I have two young daughters that keep me very busy and have opened my eyes to a completely different world! I still have a passion for music and dance events. I also enjoy watching various sporting activities and attending rugby matches (Wales at the Millennium Stadium) and attending the odd running race to support my husband when he's not injured! I enjoy keeping fit at gruelling bootcamp sessions so that I can enjoy my other passion of eating out, especially Chinese food.
