I am a Partner in the Manchester office and have the privilege of leading the team there.
I specialise in all areas of family work, but most particularly in helping people separate "well", by dealing with their finances and all the issues that surround relationship breakdown. Most of the time I deal with couples that are divorcing or ending a cohabitation relationship, whether that be in a same or opposite sex setting.
I have a special interest in protecting families from fallout on separation by advising on pre- and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.
Having extensive experience in high to very high net worth cases, I act for clients in the realms of sports, media and business. I have a particular interest in reputation management through the process of separation and keeping the details of matrimonial finances private.
I am also a barrister, meaning I like to appear in court and argue a strong case for my clients, something I am passionate about for everyone I act for.
I have been involved in a number of very high profile cases for sports individuals recently, taking me to the High Court in London. I am sensitive to the confidentiality that surrounds these cases and only publish the details in limited circumstances if the client is happy to do so.
What Inspired You To Go Into Law?
I always loved the law, and actually wanted to become a police officer. But being tiny and light as a feather I decided that my skills might be better put to use behind a desk. That's what inspired me to get into this wonderful career.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
Obviously being involved in very complex, high profile work which challenges me on a intellectual level is fantastic, but the most rewarding aspect is being able to guide someone through one of the most difficult periods of their lives and help them to emerge on the other side, ready for their next chapter.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I absolutely love weightlifting and circuit training. I love nothing more than pushing myself to the edge of my limits and seeing how much more I can lift.
When I'm not pulling muscles in the gym, you can often find me at the weekend walking my border terrier on Formby beach.
