I work in the Motor department and specialise in cases where the driver responsible for the accident is either uninsured or can't be traced. I also deal with cases where liability for the accident is complex or disputed.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I originally worked for various motor insurers defending personal injury claims. I became increasingly interested in acting for claimants and made the jump to claimant work in 1995. I wanted to increase my skills and so I undertook part time study and qualified as a legal executive in 2004 and then as a solicitor in 2010.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
I enjoy talking with clients to work out what would be the best outcome for them as individuals and then using my skills to secure that for them. Clients are never the same, even if their accident circumstances or injuries are similar, and the best outcome for one will not necessarily be the same for another. I also love problem solving and researching situations and circumstances I haven't come across previously.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
I like the way that Irwin Mitchell put the client at the heart of everything they do and treat them as individuals. Also, IM takes its responsibility for staff development very seriously. They helped me to qualify first as a legal executive and then as a solicitor and have always been supportive of my development as a lawyer.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I like country walking and rock climbing. There's plenty of both in the Sheffield area. I also love going to concerts and to the theatre and am lucky because there are two first class theatres in Sheffield.
