“There is a great deal of uncertainty for business caused by Brexit and I think it is inevitable that they will attempt to manage the process as best they can. One way that they will do this is by stockpiling vital equipment for their businesses.
“Many of the businesses that are looking at doing this, or already doing it, are not only manufacturers that are worried about a ‘no deal Brexit’ and rely on just in time delivery, they are also companies such as logistics firms that need parts that are currently produced overseas to maintain their fleet of vehicles. For food suppliers clearly this is less of an issue in relation to perishable goods but still important where they rely upon automation and for example, keeping their conveyor systems moving.
“Property wise, this might mean short term leases of industrial and warehousing space. This can provide a challenge for some because the availability is not always in the best location and there is a real possibility that a shortage of supply could force prices up.”
“This was a superb event and it was certainly great to hear from a high profile local MP about his thoughts on the Northern Powerhouse and what he thinks the priorities for the Yorkshire region are.
“I was pleased with Hilary’s support for the leadership of Leeds and his emphasis that we all control our own destiny. His passion for his constituency and his awareness of the social problems we face show an MP who will undoubtedly fight this city’s corner. Hilary’s awareness of the world economy was impressive”.
“We are delighted that Hilary Benn has agreed to speak at our event on the UK Powerhouse. Hilary is a great supporter of his constituency here in Leeds and will, I am sure, take a positive line over what is a challenging objective set by the Government. It promises to be a lively debate and has clearly caught the imagination with a strong demand for places already.”
