Biography
I’m a Solicitor in the Medical Negligence and Abuse Litigation team. I’ve worked for Irwin Mitchell since 2016 when I started as a Paralegal.
I work with people who’ve suffered an injury because of medical negligence from NHS Hospitals, GPs, and private practitioners. My work varies, but it tends to include surgical errors, medication errors, delays in diagnosis of cancer and failings in mental health settings.
I represent clients who’ve suffered sexual, physical, and emotional abuse by individuals in positions of trust or where social services have failed to remove children earlier from their natural homes.
What inspired you to get into law?
I really enjoyed my law degree but, I must admit, I was conscious that a career in law may see me stuck behind a desk, distant from my clients. After graduating, I soon found myself pulled back into law and accepted a role as a Paralegal in the Bristol, medical negligence team.
I soon realised that the Irwin Mitchell approach is one that sees us making a real difference to the lives of our clients, with whom we work closely. We’re able to make a real difference to our clients, who find themselves in vulnerable situations, and to secure their future. It’s this that set my mind on a career in law, and with Irwin Mitchell.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Many of our clients have been let down by professionals. It’s a real privilege to be given the opportunity to build someone’s trust.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The best thing about working at Irwin Mitchell is the people. Everyone is genuinely interested in the work they do and concerned for the wellbeing of our clients.
What do you do away from the office?
I enjoy swimming and spending time with friends and family.
