Biography
I am a Chartered Legal Executive in the Serious Injury department at Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office. I work with children and adults who've sustained life changing injuries which include primarily brain, spinal and orthopaedic injuries.
In my line of work, I often work closely with family members and professional individuals including case managers, support workers and treating therapists to ensure our clients receive a tailored rehabilitation package that best suits their needs as early as possible. Due to the serious nature of the injuries involved, I also often support clients who don't have capacity to deal with litigation or manage their property and financial affairs.
Before qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in February 2021, I worked as a Serious Injury Paralegal for approximately five years.
What inspired you to get into law?
I first began studying law in college and instantly knew it was for me! I then continued my journey into the profession by completing my law degree and Masters at Northumbria University. I always wanted to work with individuals as I am a people person and really love making a difference, therefore serious injury seemed the perfect choice for me.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
All of the clients I work with have suffered serious and life-changing injuries which will have an impact on both them and their families for the rest of their lives. I think that it's extremely rewarding to be able to help clients navigate the complexities of litigation while giving them the tools to navigate and adjust to the changes in their lives.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The support I get from my team on a daily basis is amazing and the attitude and tenacity of my team remind me daily why we do what we do. Irwin Mitchell is completely client-orientated and is able to give clients a full service experience and support them in all aspects of their lives.
What do you do away from the office?
I have a passion for good food and love to cook and eat which goes hand in hand with my love of exercise, thank goodness! I can also be found in my little allotment garden attempting to grow my own produce and become self-sustainable.
