I’m a Solicitor in the Tax, Trust and Estates (TTE) team based in Irwin Mitchell’s Gatwick office. I joined the firm in June 2017.
My experience includes:
- Drafting wills
- Administering trusts
- Drafting and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney for Property and Financial Affairs and Health and Welfare with the Office of the Public Guardian
- Registering Enduring Powers of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian
- Dealing with probate matters and the administration of estates.
Before my qualification, I worked in the Gatwick TTE team as a paralegal for 14 months and I also trained with our London TTE team during my training contract. During this time I also trained with our Medical Negligence team and Wills Trusts and Estate Disputes team.
"Jennifer Davies has expertly renewed my Will and other important documents. She was exemplary in her communication, explanation and delivery of the documents. I felt very happy indeed with her expertise and explanation of legal matters. I would not hesitate to use her again." - 5* Trustpilot review
“In my dealings with them [Irwin Mitchell] they were on the ball and really helpful, especially the trainee solicitor. There was a problem that I had with some shares that my late father had, but she kept me regularly informed and the advice she gave was good, really helpful. She really pulled the stops out. She does really deserve credit for that.” - Mr B, Client
What inspired you to get into law?
I studied law at college and was fascinated with the way the law could help people. This was initially sparked by a college trip to the Supreme Court and the Royal Courts of Justice, which are both incredible buildings.
My college tutors frequently told stories of their most interesting clients and cases when they used to practice before turning their talents to teaching budding lawyers. I was inspired at this young age to learn more about how I could translate this knowledge and use it to help others.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I enjoy working with individual clients and providing them with technical support and peace of mind during challenging times in their lives.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Working at Irwin Mitchell allows me the opportunity to work with fantastic people on a daily basis who truly care about their colleagues and clients.
The firm supports many local charitable causes through events and on-going projects which we're encouraged to participate in, and which I've been involved in since I first joined the firm. This provides a great opportunity for colleagues to come together outside of our usual working environment and to help others in the local community.
I also enjoy being part of the many committees and events that Irwin Mitchell has to offer. I'm a member of the charity committee and regularly organise events throughout the year to raise money for our charity of the year.
What do you do away from the office?
I love food, so in my spare time I enjoy eating out in new restaurants and cafes or trying out new recipes.
My family have travelled quite a lot throughout my life and have visited some exciting places. One of my brothers currently lives in Thailand and I spent the first year of my life in Greece. I think that I have naturally adopted the travel bug and, I really enjoy visiting new countries when I have the time. I have a young niece who keeps me entertained and busy too!
