Biography
I joined the Public Law & Human Rights team as a Paralegal in September 2014. I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in January 2019 and then cross qualified as a Solicitor in July 2022.
I specialise in civil claims against the police and other state bodies. These include claims for unlawful detention, false imprisonment, assault and claims under the Human Rights Act.
I have a particular interest in bringing claims for data protection breaches for vulnerable women who have had their data unlawfully disclosed by the state which causes these women to suffer psychological harm.
I regularly represent family members in inquest proceedings where individuals have died while in state care or detention. Usually, this is because of failures by the state to look after these people properly, which contributes to their death.
I also specialise in welfare cases relating to vulnerable adults in the Court of Protection. I'm regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor, advocates and paid relevant persons representatives to bring challenges for individuals being deprived of their liberty.

She is meticulous, with attention to detail whilst never losing sight of the necessary overview. Her advice is clear, insightful and informative. "I'd like to express my deepest gratitude for all the assistance Hollie Wheeler has provided to my family over the last 18 months in relation to my late mother's inquest. Hollie successfully helped me to secure legal aid for predatory work and representation at the inquest, something for which we are incredibly grateful. When we met Hollie, it was the first time a professional had been able to sensitively listen to what had happened to our mother and validate our concerns. Her promise to help us find answers to the number of outstanding questions and concerns regarding the circumstances of our mother's death provided us with comfort and the knowledge that we were not alone during this distressing process.
"She has always been available to answer any questions we have had, has meticulously reviewed details of the case as they arose, and has consistently given pertinent advice. Hollie's professionalism and commitment to our case has provided us with invaluable breathing space whilst we try and come to terms with our loss and has given us the utmost confidence that we will be entering the inquest prepared and with an excellent team behind us. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend her, and wish her all the very best." - 5* Trustpilot review
