I am a solicitor specialising in medical negligence cases. I'm also a solicitor advocate, which means I can represent clients in the higher courts in England and Wales and provide advocacy services.
My work involves securing financial compensation for clients who have suffered injury as a result of medical negligence. I have my own caseload as well as assisting senior fee earners. I also supervise our specialist small claims team in our Sheffield office.
I have experience in:
- Surgical procedures
- Misdiagnosis and delays in treatment
- Failures in GP and community care
- Mismanagement of mothers and babies at birth.
Before completing my training contract, I read Law at the University of Sheffield and completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Law.
I qualified as a solicitor in September 2014.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I decided I wanted to study Law whilst completing my A-levels. I was fascinated by the speed at which the law changes, and the effect those changes have on every individual in society.
Whilst studying Law I decided that I wanted to become a solicitor so that I could use the knowledge and understanding that I had gained to help other people.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
Being able to get financial compensation for clients and seeing how it improves their situation is really rewarding. But I also think that clients benefit from having someone to talk to during what is almost always a difficult time in their lives.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
It's rewarding and enjoyable to be part of a team of who have their clients’ needs and goals at the centre of everything they do.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
Outside of work I enjoy running and cycling, spending time with family and friends and walking my dog.
