I advise on UK tax and asset structuring for international clients looking to relocate to or exit from the UK, set up or invest in UK businesses or invest in UK property. I act for entrepreneurs, individuals, companies, private banks, family offices, non-UK law firms and trust companies, with a particular focus on Francophone Europe and Africa, especially Mauritius.
Before qualifying as a solicitor, I worked in shipping protection and indemnity, handling shipping claims such as oil slicks, injury, cargo claims and sinking. I then moved on to legal roles in shipping finance and maritime intelligence, which took me to other jurisdictions including Africa and France. I used my commercial law background as a good base to move into personal tax and trusts law.
I sit as a mentor on the French Chamber of Commerce’s entrepreneur mentoring scheme and am an active participant of La French Tech platform.
I am also bilingual in English and French; with Melanie Stancliffe, I head up the firm's French Team. I also have a good working knowledge of Greek.
"Strong international practice. He is very approachable and highly experienced" - Legal 500, 2018/19
I publish articles in the French Chamber Magazine “INFO” and for FrenchConnect London (French Tech Entrepreneurs).
“I am very proud to have been selected as a 2018 Young Leader by the Franco-British Council and I’m grateful to those at the jury who selected me as a candidate.
“At Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth we pride ourselves in our relations with French businesses and individuals. We’re looking to become one of the foremost institutions that can help French citizens with their legal advice, which the Franco-British Council has recognised.
“I look forward to working with the Council and to deepen both mine and the firm’s relationships with our French clients, as well as forging new Franco-British relationships.”
We’ll be discussing ways that French businesses and individuals operating in the UK can maximise opportunities presented through Brexit and maintain their positive working relationships within Britain.
We hope that those attending the event will be reassured and educated on how we can maintain these longstanding international relationships, despite Brexit, and show that as a firm we are committed to promoting French-British connections and maximising business opportunities.
