I am a solicitor in the serious injury team in Sheffield. I specialise in helping people who have suffered brain, head, and spinal cord injuries in road traffic collisions and other accidents.
I think my inspiration came from a rather unusual source.
My parents were teachers and my mother in particular was a headteacher at a challenging inner city school. Through my mother, I witnessed first-hand how someone can have an impact on individuals but also a community in tackling their problems and aspiring to do more.
Her passion and drive to help people using her skills and knowledge made me see how rewarding it can be to help people in need and drive them forward. I had always wanted to follow a different path to my parents' career, and thought that a career in law would allow me to develop and utilise skills which would help people in need.
Supporting a client at their greatest time of need and knowing a client can rely and trust you, no matter what the outcome. Building a strong, professional and friendly relationship with a client is critical, particularly individuals who have been through traumatic accidents.
I am a husband and father to young twin daughters. I like to spend my time with wife and young family when I can. I enjoy going to soft play centres with my daughters as it gives me the perfect excuse to act like a kid again!
I am a long-suffering supporter of Sheffield United and I also play 5-a-side football with friends once a week.
I have also developed an unhealthy habit to Netflix and binge-watching TV series!
"I can honestly say that the team working my case got me the absolute best outcome I could have possibly imagined...
The support I have had from the team, particularly over the last 8 months with Ewan & Jeanette, has been second to none. They have helped me every step of the way, over and above anything I expected." - Natalie Turner, client (read full review)
“David Withers and Ewan Bain along with the very supportive team at Irwin Mitchell have provided my son with care, dignity and on going support throughout a very difficult and emotional time. The support has been extended to the whole family. The team give thorough information with care and respect in a timely and respectful way. A hard working team with the client at the heart of the case.” - Client
“We’re delighted to be hosting these free legal advice clinics for ISRAAC. Being able to offer this service to people who need it is exactly what our pro bono initiative is all about. We hold similar monthly clinics at the Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association (SADACCA) in the Wicker and in the past have run clinics at our Sheffield office for communities across the city. We’ve always received extremely encouraging and positive feedback from people who have attended; it’s really important to enable people to access pro bono legal advice they so desperately need.”
