Chocolate Eggs Being Distributed To Local Families This Easter With Thanks To Law Firm

Users of a local food bank will be able to pick up a special Easter treat after more than 140 chocolate eggs were donated by law firm Irwin Mitchell.

The Manchester Central Foodbank received the generous donations after a team of lawyers at Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office organised an Easter egg collection, which ran from 11 to 17 April, with the eggs to be distributed over the Easter period.

Collection points in the Manchester office were set up by lawyer Alexandra Barrie and colleagues made their donations in the run up to Easter so that they can be handed out to users of the foodbank.

“Now our users will be treated to a delicious chocolate surprise this Easter. It really does make a difference to people to be able to celebrate occasions such as this. Little gestures such as Easter treats can help put a smile on people’s faces as they don’t always have the same opportunities as everyone else.”

The Manchester Central Foodbank opened in 2013 as part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in local communities, as well as across the UK.

In 2017/18, The Trussell Trust’s Foodbank Network provided more than 1.3million three-day emergency food supplies and support to UK people in crisis.  Of these, over 484,000 went to children.
