Dan White Set To Speak At Upcoming Irwin Mitchell Event
National law firm Irwin Mitchell is gearing up to a host an inspirational event later this month which will feature a talk from the creator of a ground-breaking comic which features disabled superheroes.
The Evening of Inspiration at Irwin Mitchell’s London office is taking place from 6pm on Thursday, 29 March, with the speaker for the evening being Dan White, who will discuss how he created the Department of Ability after noticing a lack of disabled icons for his daughter Emily – a wheelchair user with spina bifida – to look up to.
Now 12, she is one of the members of the superhero gang who are ‘born to be different, born to save the world’.
As well as outlining how the Department of Ability has taken him across the world, Dan will also provide some insight into his work promoting disability rights. The talk will then be followed by drinks and an opportunity to network with other guests.
Rebecca Brown, a medical negligence lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, Southampton, has organised the event.
Expert Opinion
When it came to arranging this event we only had Dan in mind as a speaker. His story across the past few years is a true inspiration and he is truly passionate about ensuring that children with disabilities are properly portrayed and have icons to look up to.
“We cannot wait for the event and are sure that all of the attendees will be blown away by Dan’s incredible work.” Rebecca Brown - Senior Associate
