Law firm continues its strategic growth programme
Leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell announces a further major appointment to its London office with the arrival of Gordon Anderson as partner to head up the Construction, Engineering and Infrastructure practice in London.
Gordon, who has over 12 years’ experience in construction practice, was previously a Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills (2011-date) and prior to that an Associate at DLA Piper in London (2005-2011) after training and qualifying at Hammonds Suddard Edge.
Gordon practises all aspects of construction law and specialises in domestic UK projects. Career highlights include advising on the development of The Shard and The Aquatics Centre. He has a wealth of experience on complicated development projects in London including recently acting for the Oxford Properties and Brookfield Developments joint venture on the development and pre-letting to Schroders of London Wall Place, acting for Market-Tech on the residential development at Hawley Wharf in Camden, acting for Capco on residential developments at Covent Garden and Earls Court Village, and acting for Blackstone on the commercial development of Chiswick Park and the redevelopment of 20 Old Bailey. Outside of London, Gordon recently acted for Hammerson on a phased building contract with Sir Robert McAlpine for a mixed use retail led scheme in Leeds. Other regular clients include Deutsche Bank, Brookgate and Standard Life.
Gordon joins National Head of Construction, Julie Morrissy, who is based in Sheffield and already leads a highly regarded construction team which specialises in advising clients on residential, commercial and mixed-use projects across the country. In London, he will sit in the Real Estate team headed by Rob Thompson.
Irwin Mitchell’s Construction/Planning/Real Estate team has seen significant growth in the past few years. In November 2015, Irwin Mitchell merged with Thomas Eggar creating a national real estate practice of 50 partners and over 160 lawyers with offices in London, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham and now also in TE’s South East offices including London, Gatwick and Southampton.
