National law firm Irwin Mitchell sponsored a prestigious event on the evening of St Patrick’s Day, which was hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Irish in Britain. The event took place on 17th March at Portcullis House in Westminster, London with hundreds of people in attendance including a number of MPs from across all the political parties. Chris Ruane MP, Chair of the APPG on the Irish in Britain, introduced guest speakers Dr Andrew Murrison (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Northern Ireland) as well as Lord Dubs, Stephen Pound, Labour MP for Ealing North and Dan Mulhall, the Ambassador of Ireland to Great Britain.

He also took the opportunity to ask the cross-party politicians in attendance to pay greater attention to issues of access to justice ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Over 200 people attended the evening, which is the All Party Parliamentary Group’s biggest event of the year. The group works alongside leading Irish charity Irish in Britain to help celebrate the contribution of the Irish community across the country, support the most vulnerable, promote better health and well-being and campaign for issues that matter to the whole Irish community.
Jennie McShannon, Chief Executive of Irish in Britain, the national representative body for the Irish community in Britain said: “We are delighted to have run this event in partnership with Irwin Mitchell. It has been hugely beneficial to work together to address the needs of the most vulnerable in our community. Neither Irish in Britain, nor our members, can do everything on our own.
“Irwin Mitchell are able to respond sensitively to the legal issues presented and enhance our ability to respond to the challenges faced by Irish people across Britain. We look forward to this continued partnership and again thank Irwin Mitchell for their support for this great parliamentary event.”
