Two Friends Suffered Gastric Illness At Perdikia Hill Hotel
Two holidaymakers who fell ill with severe gastric symptoms during a week-long trip to the Perdikia Hill Hotel, Ovacik, Turkey have spoken about their ‘terrible’ ordeal after instructing international travel lawyers to investigate the cause of their illness.
Jane Syers, 48, a Beautician and her friend from Dartford, travelled to the all-inclusive four-star resort in June 2014 after booking their trip through World Sky Travel Limited trading as Anatolian Sky Holidays.
The pair says their holiday was ruined when they fell ill two days in with horrible symptoms including severe diarrhoea, sickness, stomach cramps and fever. Their illness lasted for the rest of the holiday with Jane still suffering now months later.
Both women have instructed law firm Irwin Mitchell to investigate the cause of the gastric illness they suffered. The pair told expert lawyers that food was sometimes served undercooked and some of the food was served lukewarm.
They reported that they were aware that other guests at the hotel had also been ill with similar symptoms.
Clare Comiskey, a specialist International Personal Injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said: "Jane and her friend fell ill days into what was meant to be a relaxing summer break at an all-inclusive hotel. We will now be investigating the cause of their illness and are concerned to hear that other holidaymakers seemed to be suffering with similar issues.
“As we conduct our investigations we would urge anyone who stayed at the Perdikia Hill Hotel and who may be able to provide information about the conditions there to get in contact with us as soon as possible.”
Jane said: “We were really looking forward to a relaxing holiday, but after just a couple of days it turned into a nightmare.
“It was terrible and we were so disappointed and angry that we could not enjoy our holiday together. We noticed that food was sometimes undercooked. Food was on occasions served lukewarm and food on the buffet was sometimes uncovered which meant insects would land on the food.
“It wasn’t just us who were affected. We could see that other people staying at the resort were suffering with the same symptoms as us. I thought my illness would improve once we returned home, but unfortunately this was not the case and I am still suffering now.
“We hope that our legal team at Irwin Mitchell will help find answers about what caused our illness.”
