Spanish Legal Expert Joins In Major Roundtable Discussion
Legal experts from Irwin Mitchell’s offices in the UK and Spain were in Berlin earlier this month to attend the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers’ Annual Conference, with one of the firm’s expert lawyers making a speech during the event.
Held from September 12th to 14th, the conference saw experts from across Europe, including United Kingdom, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and Greece, as well as the US, gather to discuss key issues including the latest developments on the standardisation of damages across Europe, establishing jurisdiction in cross border cases, punitive damages in Europe or the recovery of lawyer’s fees across Europe.
As well as attending, Irwin Mitchell also provided a speaker for the event with Ana Romero from the international law firm’s Malaga office joining a roundtable in relation to cross-border personal injury claims from the Spanish perspective.
She specifically examined the issues surrounding handling of personal Injury cases in Spain such as how to select the appropriate lawyer, funding arrangements, recoverable heads of damages and specifics around the Spanish legal procedure.
Commenting on her involvement, Ana said: “This event is one of the biggest in the calendar when it comes to our sector and it was a huge honour to be able to speak about current issues which can impact on cases which take in more than one jurisdiction.
“It was also excellent to have the opportunity to meet so many other legal experts from across Europe and share thoughts and ideas on the future of the area.”
