One-Day Hearing To Be Held This Week
An inquest to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a three year old Birmingham boy is due to take place on Thursday September 29th 2011.
Alfie Podmore became unwell on February 2nd 2011 and attended Birmingham Children’s Hospital on February 3rd 2011 but was later sent home.
On the morning of 6th February 2011, his mother found him unresponsive in bed. He was subsequently pronounced dead at his home by paramedics. Abby was arrested on suspicion of murder and held in custody overnight. She was released the following day without charge and has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Police.
HM Coroner for Birmingham, Mr Aidan Cotter, will hold the inquest, listed as a one-day hearing, starting at 10:00am at Birmingham Coroner’s Court.
Tom Riis Bristow, a medical law solicitor with law firm, Irwin Mitchell, who is representing the family, said: “Alfie’s Mum, Abby Podmore and her entire family have found it extremely hard to come to terms with what happened and very much hope that the inquest will shed light on the circumstances which led to her son’s death.”
