Chambers Results Praise Manchester Firm
The Manchester arm of leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell has been recognised for ‘Increasingly making its mark on the North West’ amid news that the firm now holds top spot for Personal Injury services in the city, and has climbed the ranks for Family Law services according to an independent publication this week.
In the Chambers UK 2012 report, Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester Personal Injury team holds the coveted number one spot, whilst the Family Law team has climbed the ladder to claim number two.
The Manchester office’s growing reputation for providing business legal services was also recognised by Chambers. Head of employment, Ed Cotton, was described as “having the ability to translate legal requirements into realistic solutions”, whilst Insolvency Partner, Chris Jones, earned plaudits for handling contentious and non-contentious matters and having a “good depth of knowledge” and an “ability to answer any queries”.
The Personal Injury team gets a glowing review, with the “highly talented” group receiving praise for “high levels of integrity and expertise” and for the “realistic and forthright advise offered” when handling a full range of personal injury claims.
Individuals singled out include the Manchester office’s Regional Managing Partner Grahame Codd, who is recognised as being “widely respected in the legal market” for “Impressive handling of a wide range of catastrophic claims”.
Jonathan Betts is described as an “exceptional talent” praised for managing the serious injury team with “enormous energy”. Matt Brown, who “deservedly enters the guide this year”, is admired for being “approachable, diligent and client centred”. He is joined by Geraldine Coombs, head of the Manchester Asbestos Related Disease team, who is “personable and dedicated.”
Top ranking expert Elizabeth Tait from the Family Law team, is acknowledged for having a “strong reputation for advice on cohabitation agreements and civil partnerships”, is a “wonderful, compassionate, intuitive communicator always looking for solutions.” Ros Bever, who bolstered the team with her arrival in May, is acknowledged for being “adept at dealing with complexities of trusts and inheritance claims”.
In Clinical Negligence, top ranking brain and spinal cord injury expert Lindsay Wise, is regarded as a “hard working, empathetic and deeply committed practitioner”. Across the board the Clinical Negligence department, which is ranked third in Manchester, is recognised for its strength in birth injury and delay in diagnosis cases, receiving praise for “high levels of integrity and expertise,” and for frequently settling claims in excess of £1 million.
