Irwin Mitchell Praised For ‘Efficient And Very Committed Service’

Law firm Irwin Mitchell’s national public law team has again received recognition and praise across a number of competitive categories in this year’s Chambers UK rankings: A Client’s Guide to the UK Legal Profession.

Chambers positioned the team in the top three tiers across six areas including administrative and public law, police law .and environment law, and the firm’s civil liberties expert John Dickinson also maintained his number one ranking for the work he does nationwide. 

Described by his peers as an ‘innovative and outstanding lawyer’, John’s main focus is human rights litigation and prison law.

Practice head Andrew Lockley is held in high esteem by sources, with one noting that ‘no one touches him over education reviews, tribunal work and planning decisions’, with further praise being flagged for his excellent understanding of public law and describing him as an ‘incisive, knowledgeable and highly thoughtful solicitor’.

He has been involved in a number of high profile environmental cases, and sources also described him as ‘immensely likeable’ and commented on his ‘patience, guidance and reassurance’ in complex regulatory investigations.

Partner Yogi Amin was recognised throughout for his specialist and ‘tenacious approach to work’ in health and community care as well as on challenging medical treatment decisions.
 
Skilfully handling a range of claims against the police, with a particular focus on cases arising from the misuse of police Taser guns, Iftikhar Manzoor was ranked second in his field having built a strong police law practice in the North.

Within his remit Ifti advises on claims relating to mistreatment by the police, police negligence, wrongful arrest, excessive force and the abuse of ‘stop and search’ procedures.
