Council Working With HSE To Investigate Incident

Investigations are underway after a 15-year-old girl suffered back injuries when she fell five metres down a lift shaft at Liberton High School in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh City Council has confirmed it is working with the Health and Safety Executive in relation to the incident yesterday morning (December 8th), which reportedly happened when a lift became stuck between floors at the site.

The doors on the lift were opened to get people out and it is thought that this is when the youngster fell. She was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with back injuries and was sent home later.

“It is vital that such efforts are carried out as soon as possible to prevent anyone else being hurt in a similar manner in the future.”
