Reports Of Children Having Parts Of Fingers Amputated
A consumer group is investigating incidents of children losing parts of their fingers in hinge mechanisms on Maclaren pushchairs.
The Consumer Focus body is concerned that similar hinges may be in place on other pushchairs, potentially putting more children in danger.
Maclaren originally told Trading Standards that as there had only been one accident in the UK, there was no need to take safety measures. However the company was recently ordered to issue safety covers for the hinges on a range of buggies in the US after toddlers were injured.
A number of parents and doctors have reported children suffering injuries and have suggested that safety improvements should be made.
