Pledge To Offer An Unrivalled Level Of Service In Personal Injury And Clinical Negligence
Leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell, is to open a new Bristol office with a pledge to offer an unrivalled level of legal service in the fields of personal injury and clinical negligence in Bristol and across the South West.
The partnership has taken 4884 sq ft of office space at One Castlepark in the heart of Bristol’s city centre adjacent to Temple Quarter and Cabot Circus. It aims to provide better access for clients to their specialist legal teams and marks the launch of an ambitious growth plan for the practice in the region.
Commenting on the announcement, National Managing Partner, John Pickering said:
“Our strategy of investment in strategic growth in this important region, exemplified by the opening of this office, is evidence of our commitment to offering the very best legal services to our clients and the communities we serve.
“The office will also play a key part in our expanding UK office network, which ranges from London in the south east, to Manchester in the North West, Sheffield, Leeds and Newcastle in the north east and Glasgow.”
Jonathan Peacock has been appointed as Regional Managing Partner and will head up the new South West office. Jonathan has a distinguished reputation in the personal injury field. Formerly a partner with Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office, where he has been based for the last 14 years, he is a recognised leader in the personal injury sector.
Jonathan specialises in catastrophic injury and clinical negligence with a particular interest in complex clinical negligence cases involving neurological injury. He has also represented families in cases of untoward clinical deaths including deaths in secure mental health units.
Jonathan commented: “For many years we have provided specialist services to personal injury clients in Bristol and across the South West – from our Midlands office in Birmingham. We have many clients in the region and having a permanent base here in the South West is a logical consolidation of our position in the market here.
“We’ve recruited some very talented lawyers locally and my colleagues and I are very much looking forward to joining them in becoming a part of the community here in Bristol.
“We will continue to pioneer the development of our multi-disciplinary approach to injury litigation, to campaign for change where we need to – that is very much on the agenda here – and build on our already strong reputation for continuous improvement and professional excellence. We will also be looking to play a full role in the business and community life of the region.”
Jonathan will be joined by clinical negligence Associate, Julie Lewis. Julie is an expert in birth injury cases and will lead a team of medical law specialists.
She is also actively involved in assisting the work of the Birth Trauma Association, a charity dedicated to the support of women who have suffered traumatic births.
The Irwin Mitchell Bristol team will also include specialist lawyers with expertise in neurotrauma and workplace illness with further appointments to be announced in the coming weeks.
The firm’s newly refurbished offices – which have commanding views over Castle Park and the city centre – will provide office space for a total of 27 legal and support staff and further expansion is anticipated.
Irwin Mitchell was established over 95 years ago and is one of the country’s largest law firms – and the leading Personal Injury practice – in the UK.
