Charity run for Headway Glasgow

A group of local lawyers and their colleagues are putting on their running shoes in order to raise money for a national brain injury charity.

Tracey Brown, Rashmi Singh, Lorraine Smart and Andrea Logan of national law firm Irwin Mitchell are all taking part in the Glasgow 2010 Women’s 10k Race on Sunday 9 May. They hope to raise funds for their chosen charity, brain injury association Headway Glasgow.

Tracey Brown, Clinical Negligence lawyer at the Glasgow office, says the team has been training hard and is looking forward to the challenge. She said: “We have all been working hard to get our fitness levels up and keep each other motivated. We’ve even been going for jogs on our lunch breaks.

“Many of clients suffer life-shattering changes as a consequence of an acquired brain injury, so we have seen the excellent work Headway does to restore morale and quality of life to those people affected. We will be very proud to offer whatever contribution we can to this outstanding cause, and will hopefully raise some awareness of the charity as well.”

Simon Glen, Project Coordinator at Headway Glasgow, said: "In these times of restricted funding, fundraising like that being done by Tracey, Rashmi, Lorraine and Andrea at Irwin Mitchell has become increasingly important to help us continue to provide information, services and support to people with brain injury and their carers."

Headway is the national charity that works to improve life after brain injury. Through its network of more than 110 groups and branches across the UK, it provides support, services and information to brain injury survivors, their families and carers, as well as to professionals in the health and legal fields

The race takes place on Sunday 9 May at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow.
