Danger At Our Railway Stations

Railway station claim

Despite the astronomical rail fares charged to passengers, it is somewhat surprising that those responsible for the safety of railway stations do not appear to be taking the safety of their passengers seriously. The recent inclement weather has been a stark reminder to those responsible for station safety of their legal obligations - platforms covered in snow, car parks covered in ice, have made rail travel a risky business even before you get to the trains themselves.

The station operators have legal responsibilities to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of users of their stations. That includes clear platforms, salting the pathways and car parks. Given the high fares and rates charged for train travel and for car park use, passengers have a right to be able to safely use the stations. The recent weather has suggested that appropriate systems might not be in place at all stations and worryingly this applies even at stations heavily used by passengers.

People sustaining injury as a consequence of the station operators® failing may have the right to pursue a claim for compensation for injuries sustained. We have already been approached by individuals who have suffered such injuries.
