Cavendish Cancer Care

Staff at law firm Irwin Mitchell are attempting to smash the world record for a darts marathon to raise money for Sheffield's Cavendish Cancer Care.

The group of four will step up to the oche on Thursday 2 July at 6am in the reception at Irwin Mitchell's Riverside East office to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Darts Marathon.  The team will play '501' doubles continuously for 36 hours with the current record being just under 30 hours. They will hopefully check-out at around 6pm on Friday 3 July.

Scott Flower, from the IT team at Irwin Mitchell, said: "We're hoping we can hit the bullseye and complete the full 36 hours.  Cavendish Cancer Care is Irwin Mitchell's charity of the year and we wanted to do something a bit different to raise some money.

"We've also had support from former darts world champion Denis 'The Menace' Priestley, who has battled prostate cancer himself. He still lives locally and was delighted to hear about the attempt and the good cause and wished us well.

"Hopefully we'll be able to have a bit of fun, break the world record and raise some money in the process. I'm sure there will be a bit of 'friendly' competition between us too!"
