Woman Fell from Cab
A taxi driver arrested over the death of a young woman who fell from his moving cab has been bailed without charge, police have said.
Katie Bennett, 22, died in hospital from severe head injuries sustained in the fall in Newchapel, Staffordshire.
The taxi driver was arrested and later bailed following a police appeal for the driver of the large dark-coloured people carrier to come forward.
A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that the taxi driver involved has been arrested and is helping with our inquiry."
Miss Bennett and six friends had taken the taxi from Hanley town centre, in Stoke-on-Trent, to the high street in Newchapel, in the early hours of Saturday.
The spokeswoman added: "On arrival, several of the passengers had left the vehicle. However, one passenger remained in the vehicle, which then moved off.
"That passenger then fell from the vehicle whilst in motion and suffered severe head injuries as a result."
