Alleged Dog Attack Investigated

Dog Attack

Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was allegedly mauled by a large dog as she was walking into a pub for lunch.

Karen Marshall, 45, claims she was attacked by a Great Dane-type dog belonging to the landlord of the Narrow Boat pub in Newbury, Berkshire.

She told the local Newbury Weekly News that the police were called after the dog bit her hand as she walked across the pub car park, exposing fat tissue and muscle.

"The landlord didn't do anything - he didn't apologise or offer to take me to hospital, nothing," she said. "He didn't even call the dog back."

Mrs Marshall told the newspaper that she received hospital treatment for the wound.

Police confirmed that an attack took place and said they were investigating the incident.

David Urpeth from law firm Irwin Mitchell said: "This alleged dog attack is currently being investigated.

"Dog owners should ensure their dogs are kept under control and don't pose a risk to people through dog bites.

"I have seen an alarming increase in the number of incidents where people have suffered injury in dog attacks.

"Such attacks can be serious or even fatal.

"I have pursued many claims for compensation following injuries sustained from dog bite attacks."
