Bus Accident
A young boy has died after a collision with a double-decker bus in Swindon.
The accident happened opposite a playground on Westlea Drive in the Westlea area. The victim, believed to be five or six years old, died at the scene.
Another child was seriously injured in the collision. He was rushed hospital but his condition is not known.
A spokesman for the police said the incident involved a Stagecoach 55 bus.
"The bus was in collision with two children," the spokesman said.
"As a result of the collision the five or six-year-old child sustained fatal injuries. The other child, thought to be eight years old, sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated at the Great Western Hospital."
The road was closed for six hours while accident investigators and vehicle examiners inspected the scene.
It is believed both boys, whom police described as local, were on the other side of the road talking to friends when they crossed to go back to the park.
The driver of the Stagecoach bus was said to be in shock following the incident.
