Teesside Chemical plant leak
A toxic leak at a chemical factory on Teesside has injured 37 people, all the injured have suffered burns, skin irritation and breathing difficulties. The incident happened at the BASF site at Seal Sands, near Billingham.
17 people have been taken to hospital, one with serious burns, the others injured were discharged after being decontaminated at the scene, according to the North East Ambulance service.
The man suffering from serious burns is being treated at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Hexamethylene diamine is believed to be the chemical involved, used in the production of acrylic and nylon fibres and plastics.
