Irwin Mitchell Employees Provide Donations And Help At Morning Session
Staff from the Manchester office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell swapped their case files for cups of tea by heading along to a foodbank in the city and supporting the incredible work it does to tackle food poverty within the community.
Five employees volunteered to visit the Manchester Central Foodbank on 25 October, with the group taking along more than 35kg of food donations collected from the office before then lending a hand with a busy morning session.
This gave them an opportunity to sit down to chat with users of the foodbank to share a hot drink, while they then assembled and handed over three-day emergency food parcels.
The volunteering session is just the latest example of how Irwin Mitchell has supported the Manchester Central Foodbank, with the law firm sending in donations back in July and also collecting more than 140 chocolate eggs as part of a special Easter initiative.
William Howe, a trainee solicitor at Irwin Mitchell who was among the group of volunteers in October, said: “As a firm we are always determined to do what we can to support important causes in the communities where we are based and the Manchester Central Foodbank undoubtedly fits the bill.
“We have supported the organisation in a number of ways in recent months and were absolutely delighted to be able to head along and volunteer in October. It was an emotional experience, but also incredibly inspiring to see the site’s work first-hand.
“It is truly a vital initiative at what is a very difficult time for many people and we would urge others to do what they can to support the site too.”
Lauren Tunnifcliffe, the charity’s project manager, said: “The ongoing support of our friends at Irwin Mitchell is greatly appreciated here at Manchester Central Foodbank. We can always count on the enthusiasm, reliability, and compassion of Irwin Mitchell volunteers, and we hope their experiences with us are as valuable for them as they are for us!”
