Passengers Injured as Coach Collides with Quad bike on the way To Larnaca Airport
Holidaymakers who were injured when their transfer coach collided with a quad bike whilst taking them back to Larnaca airport for their flight home are taking legal action.
Peter Smith has instructed specialist international personal injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell after suffering injuries when his airport transfer coach, organised by tour operator Thomas Cook, crashed on 13 July this year.
Peter, from Liverpool, was 15 minutes into the journey after getting picked up from Melini Apartments in Protaras when the driver sought to overtake a quad bike on the road. He told his expert legal team how the coach collided with the quad bike, throwing him forward in his seats.
Mr Smith, a car valeter aged 28, fell through a gap between the seats into the aisle of the coach and sustained a neck injury while another passenger hit their head hard on the seat in front.
Lesley Edwards, a specialist international personal injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell representing the holidaymakers, said:
Expert Opinion
“Peter had enjoyed his holiday and was on his way home when the coach crashed leaving him with injuries.
“We are now investigating what happened and we will be providing passengers with any help and support that they need. It is important that tour operators realise the responsibility they have when transporting holidaymakers to and from the airport. The safety of their customers must be their number one priority.” Lesley Edwards - Senior Associate
Peter said: “One minute I was enjoying the end of my holiday, then the driver collided with the quad bike and braked hard and I was thrown into the aisle. The driver and the holiday rep had to call for a replacement coach to take us to the airport.
“It was the last thing we expected after a relaxing holiday. I’ve ended up coming home feeling worse than when I went. I just want to make sure that the accident is properly investigated so that future incidents of this kind can be prevented.”
