

New Collaborative Project To Help People With Brain Injuries, Neurological Conditions And Stroke In The North East
Law firm Irwin Mitchell hosted the launch of ‘Moving on Together’ in Middlesbrough, a new lottery-funded collaborative project to support people in the North East who have had a stroke or sustained an acquired brain injury or other neurological condition.
Moving on Together is a joint project combining local charities Momentum, Stroke Association and BRAINBOX, which brings together knowledge, skills, experiences and resources to offer a better and more integrated.
At the launch event the charities spoke about the importance of a project that will help children and adults, families and carers across the North East of England.
The aim is to support over 430 children and adults with an acquired brain injury or neurological condition and work together to increase their independence and manage their conditions.
The partnership will aim to improve individual’s physical and psychological wellbeing through the development of peer group activities which will offer knowledge, skills and confidence to self-manage conditions and provide access to health and fitness activities and social events.
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist serious injury team have helped thousands of people who have suffered serious injuries, including brain and spinal cord injuries, and ensured they are able to access the support services needed for high-quality rehabilitation.

BRAINBOX provides practical support to families across the North East and Cumbria, supporting children and young people up to 25 years old who have an acquired brain injury, their carers and their families.
Julie Cordon, Project Manager at BRAINBOX has high hopes for the project and knows how vital a role it can play in many people’s future. She said: “We’re excited to be working in partnership with Momentum Skills and the Stroke Association to form Moving On Together.
“The project marks the start of a dedicated programme of work benefiting people with neurological conditions across the North East of England in the coming three years. It will introduce a streamlined opportunity for adolescents and their families to be supported through the challenges of the transition into adulthood.”
