Six Female Lawyers Among Those Promoted Along With Two Former Trainees
National law firm Irwin Mitchell has announced 13 Partner appointments across its legal teams in the latest promotion round at the Group.
The 13 new Partners will be promoted on 1st May 2016. Based in locations across the country, eight are in the personal legal services division, four in the business legal services division and one at Irwin Mitchell Asset Management. Six of the new partners are female and two began their careers at Irwin Mitchell as trainees.
Andrew Tucker, Group Chief Executive at Irwin Mitchell, described the appointments as a major investment in the Group’s services and people. The news follows the launch last week of Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth, a market-leading private wealth business, and the merger last year with law firm Thomas Eggar, which created a £250m law firm ranked 11th in the UK.
In Irwin Mitchell’s business legal services division, an area which has seen significant investment in recent years, banking and finance specialist Rohan Campbell is based in London. James Knowles is in Leeds and works in the real estate practice. Rob Laugharne and Paul Smith work in the corporate and commercial practice and are promoted in the Birmingham and London offices respectively.
In the personal legal services division, court of protection specialist Charlotte Waite is promoted in the Bristol office. Katie Thackray, who also works in the court of protection team, is based in the Newcastle office. Five of the newly-appointed partners work in Irwin Mitchell’s award-winning personal injury team. Justine Spencer and Andrew Buckham are based in Southampton, Claire Newstead in Leeds, Tim Annett in Sheffield and Jennifer Lund is in London. Polly Sweeney, a public law specialist, works in the Bristol office.
The promotion round will also see Ed Tomlinson become an Associate Director, the partner-level equivalent for non-lawyers at Irwin Mitchell. He is a Chartered Financial Planner working for Irwin Mitchell Asset Management in Sheffield, and becomes the latest professional from a specialism other than law to be appointed.
“Each one of our new Partners deserves their promotion and I congratulate them on their success. Partner appointments represent a major investment in our people and our Group and they reflect the hard work and dedication each person has given to our clients over the past years.
“They illustrate how strong and diverse our business is and highlight the depth of the talent we have in our organisation, and the efforts we are making to make Irwin Mitchell a leading firm where everyone can develop their careers.
“Added to the extensive investment we have made in our business over the past year, these appointments show the range of experience we have to offer clients and leave us in a good position to continue our growth plans.”
All appointments will be subject to SRA approval.
