High-flying Irwin Mitchell Staff Help Raise Vital Funds For Heel & Toe
Staff from law firm Irwin Mitchell have reached new heights and raised over £1000 for charity by taking part in an abseil off the Tees Transporter Bridge, in Middlesbrough.
Sarah Woosey, Kirstie Devine, Melissa Loughnane, and Jennifer Preston all took part in the event on Sunday which was organised by Heel & Toe, a Chester-le-Street based charity, helping children with cerebral palsy.
The lawyers for the firm, who have offices in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, raised a total of £1074 by ascending the famous Transporter bridge’s 278 steps and then abseiling 50m , controlling their own descents.
Amanda Tweedy, Heel & Toe’s Fundraising Executive, added: “I’m delighted staff members from Irwin Mitchell Newcastle signed up to take part in our Sponsored Abseil for Heel & Toe. The company has supported us for many years in various ways and this is just another example of their commitment to supporting us.
“Our charity is the only one in the North East to provide FREE conductive education therapy to children with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities, as well as subsidised therapies including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language and special education needs tutoring.
"We receive no government funding and need to raise £500,000 every year to continue our services, so rely on support from local businesses such as Irwin Mitchell.”
