Serious Injury Team Donates New Sledge For Manchester Phoenix Sledgehockey Team
The Manchester Phoenix Sledgehockey team has received a welcome boost which will help more people with limited mobility to get involved in the fledgling sport after a leading Manchester law firm donated a new sledge.
Irwin Mitchell’s team of specialist serious injury lawyers in Manchester helps people who have suffered severe injuries to access rehabilitation to get their lives back on track and is supporting the local sledgehockey team, which plays in Widnes, by donating a new sledge so more people can get involved.
The law firm marked the donation by taking to the ice themselves to try out the sport along with lower-limb amputees Stephen and Liam who run the charity AIM which helps other amputees to get the most out of life.
Expert Opinion
“We had a fantastic time trying out sledgehockey, although our skills may need a bit more development before we’re competing at the same level as the Manchester Phoenix.
“Many of our clients turn to disability sports to help with their recovery and rehabilitation as they seek to overcome their injuries and make progress in their lives. We want to help more people to be able to get involved in sledgehockey and are delighted to be donating a new sledge to the team. They are an inspiration to others who have limited mobility and hopefully we will be able to continue supporting the Manchester Phoenix Sledgehockey team in future.” Richard Biggs - Partner
